Looking Into Lyrics

Since I am at a loss for my own words, I decided to share someone else’s. This is a song I choreographed a ballet routine to after my best friend and godfather had passed away. It’s title “23” always seemed so far away to me at the time. But I heard it tonight, and I felt it again, but in a different way this time. The words seemed to take on a total different meaning. Funny how words can do that. And now with my 23rd birthday approaching, it doesn’t seem far away at all. It seems right here. If you don’t know it, it is worth listening to.

 Jimmy Eat World – 23

“I felt for sure last night
That once we said goodbye
No one else will know
These lonely dreams
No one else will know
That part of me

I’m still drivin’ away
And I’m sorry everyday
I won’t always love
These selfish things
I won’t always live
Not stoppin’

It was my turn to decide
I knew this was our time
No one else will have me
Like you do
No one else will have me
Only you

You’ll sit alone forever
If you wait for the right time
What are you hopin’ for?
I’m here, I’m now, I’m ready
Holdin’ on tight
Don’t give away the end
One thing that stays mine

Amazing still it seems
I’ll be twenty three
I won’t always love
What I’ll never have
I won’t always live
In my regrets

You’ll sit alone forever
If you wait for the right time
What are you hopin’ for?
I’m here, I’m now, I’m ready
Holdin’ on tight
Don’t give away the end
One thing that stays mine

You’ll sit alone forever
If you wait for the right time
What are you hopin’ for?
I’m here, I’m now, I’m ready
Holdin’ on tight
Don’t give away the end
One thing that stays mine

You’ll sit alone forever
And wait for the right time
What are you hopin’ for?
I’m here, I’m now, I’m ready
Holdin’ on tight
Don’t give away the end
One thing that stays mine”
